The Retail Girl, Market

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how The Retail Girl, Market (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from www.theretailgirl.com (the “Site”), or when you visit our physical store at 902 W. 4th Street, Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28202.

We are a small, woman-owned and minority-owned neighborhood market based in Charlotte, North Carolina. We currently sell only within the United States. We believe privacy policies should be written in plain language, and we have tried to do that here.

Personal Information We Collect

When you visit the Site, place an order, or contact us, we collect certain information about you. We refer to this as “Personal Information.” Here is what we collect and why.

Information You Give Us

  • Name, email address, and phone number

  • Billing and shipping address

  • Order details and purchase history

  • Any information you include when you contact us, such as through our Contact page or by phone or email

We collect this information directly from you when you place an order, create an account, sign up for store pickup, or reach out to us.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and browser information (such as browser type, IP address, and time zone)

  • Pages viewed, products viewed, and how you interact with the Site

  • Approximate location, based on IP address

This information is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies provided by our e-commerce platform, Shopify, when you use the Site. We use this information to make sure the Site works correctly and to understand how customers use our store online.

Payment Information

When you make a purchase, your payment is processed securely by Shopify Payments or another payment processor. We do not store your full credit card number. We may see limited information such as the card type and the last four digits for order records and customer service purposes.

How We Use Your Information

We use your Personal Information to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders, including in-store pickup and shipping

  • Communicate with you about your order, including confirmations and updates

  • Respond to questions and provide customer support

  • Improve our Site, products, and services

  • Screen orders for potential fraud or risk

  • Comply with applicable laws

We do not use automated decision-making that has a legal or otherwise significant effect on you. Our payment processor, Shopify, uses limited automated tools (such as temporary blocks on IP addresses or cards associated with failed transactions) to help prevent fraud.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your Personal Information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

We share Personal Information only as needed to run our business, including with:

  • Shopify, our e-commerce platform provider, which hosts our Site and processes orders, payments, and shipping on our behalf. You can read Shopify’s privacy policy at shopify.com/legal/privacy.

  • Shipping carriers, in order to deliver products you have purchased.

  • Government authorities or other third parties, only if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or other lawful request.

If we begin using additional tools in the future, such as email marketing or website analytics services, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect those tools before we begin using them.

Cookies

Like most online stores, our Site uses cookies. A cookie is a small file placed on your device that helps the Site function properly and remember information such as your shopping cart.

Our Site uses cookies provided through the Shopify platform for purposes including:

  • Operating your shopping cart and checkout

  • Keeping you logged in if you create a customer account

  • Remembering your store pickup preferences

  • Basic analytics on how the Site is used, such as which pages are visited

Most web browsers let you control or block cookies through your browser settings. Please note that blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site function, such as your ability to check out.

Because there is no consistent industry standard for how to respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, we do not currently alter our data practices when we detect one.

Data Retention

We keep your order and account information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to maintain business and tax records as required by law. If you would like us to delete your Personal Information sooner, you may contact us using the information below, and we will honor your request except where we are required to keep certain records by law.

Children's Privacy

Our Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your Personal Information, including the right to know what information we have about you, the right to ask us to correct or delete it, and the right to receive a copy of it.

Because we are a small business that sells only within the United States and does not sell or share Personal Information with third parties for advertising purposes, formal opt-out requirements such as a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link do not currently apply to us. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.

To exercise any privacy right described above, or if you have any questions, please contact us using the information below. We will respond within a reasonable time, generally no more than 45 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
